b. Additionally, Section 6.3.3(c) of the information provided within this plan states
that "the thickness of the overburden to the deposit to be mined will vary from
one foot to ten feet."
c. Finally, Section 6.3.3(d) states that "the thickness of the deposit to be mined will
vary from six to thirteen feet deep."
d. This totals a minimum excavated depth of eight feet (with only one foot of topsoil
and overburden and six feet of commodity) and a maximum excavated depth of
twenty-four feet.
e. How will ground water interception be prevented when the estimated depth to
water is between ten and eighteen feet (as stated in the report provided to the
Division with this application package, and compiled by Larry L. Harkins, P.E. on
June 28, 2005), and corroborated by the May 13, 2004 Well Construction and
Test Report (under the section noted as "Remarks") that water was encountered at
"ten feet"?
5. Please provide the source of the water to be used for dust suppression and any on-site
processing.
6. Please designate if disturbances such as benches or impoundments will occur, and if so
specify their dimensions.
7. Please provide volumetric dimensions for the proposed detention pond.
8. Please describe how positive drainage offsite will be preserved, as this site is to be
reclaimed to rangeland and is not designated as water storage. It is stated in Exhibit E
(Section 6.3.3(1)) that no storm water will be retained on the property. However, the
proposed post-mine topography illustrates abasin-type configuration where water maybe
held onsite. Please reconcile this discrepancy.
Rule 6.3.4 Exhibit D- Reclamation Plan
9. Please provide anticipated quantity {cubic yards) of topsoil on-site at all times.
10. Please provide anticipated quantity (cubic yards) of construction stockpile material on-
site at all times.
11. The Division has noted less favorable reclamation success on slopes steeper than 3h:ly.
Please commit to grading and reclaiming slopes at this site to 3h:ly or less steep to
increase the likelihood of reclamation success.
12. Please provide DRMS with a copy of the Storm Water Management Plan (SWMP) once
submitted to the Water Quality Control Division. Please make any changes necessary to
maps to specify the location of ditches and sediment or storm water control structures so
the Division can calculate the cost to reclaim such structures.
13. Please describe the practices, structures, and/or measures to be implemented to control
sedimentation and erosion from the mine site into the nearby Hardscrabble Creek
drainage.
