Classification of MJor Components -The components listed below comprise the major parts of the
• mapping unit:
A. Li[hic Agriborolls.
1. Loamy, mixed.
(Beenom Series)
B. Typic Agriborolls.
1. Fine, montmorillonitic
(Absarokee Series)
Extent and Maior Areas of Occurrence -These hilly, steep, and very steep soils are on mountain slopes in
the southern part of the survey area at elevations of 6,800 to 8,300 feet.
Characteristic Topoeraphv -The Beenom soil occupies upper margitu of the slope and ridge tops while
the Absarokee soil occupies positions lower on the slope and ridge tops.
Physical Properties -The Beenom soil has low permeability and the available water capacity is low. The
effective rooting depth is about 14 inches. Surface runoff is rapid and erosion hazard is slight from wind
and high from water. Seeding has limited applicability when the range is in poor condition. Steep slopes
and stony surface soils are the limiting factors. Suitable far seeding are western wheatgrass and bluebunch
whcatgrass.
Chemical Properties and Natural Fertility -Not available from the SCS at the time of the survey.

r1
U
