130
• 2
Site: 5RT
8 (Fig. 1),
7 site Type: Open architectural.
rocation: SE ;NE ;, Sec. 22, TSn, R86w; UTM Zone 13, E329,050m., N4 ,471,490m.
] Description: 5RT28 is an historic architectural site located on the ter-
race above and 50 m, to the north of Foidel Creek at the base of a high

hill. The site elevation is 6793 ft. (2,071 m.), Vegetation surrounding
the site includes sagebrush, wild onion, bitterbrush, native grasses, cot-
tonwood, and willow. The site consists of the remains of two structures
built against a low, 1,5 m. sandstone outcrop used as one wall and two
freestanding structures. Just north of the site, on top of the sand-
stone outcrop there 1s an abandoned roadbed which can be traced several
hundred meters to the east and west Paralleling Foidel Creek. The two
structures that abut the stone outcrop are a partially collapsed log house
•
and a masonry root cellar with a corrugated iron roof. The two freestand-
ing structures are completely collapsed. One appears to be an outdoor
toilet and the other a multiroom dwelling. Both of these were built
with milled lumber, Additional cultural material includes rusted sheet
metal, bedsprings, cinders, coal ash, and glass fragments.
l Diagnostic Artifacts: 1919 "D" Lincoln Cent.
evaluation: No recommendation can be made for 5RT28 until archival re-
l
f search has been carried out by a trained historian.
l •
