Section 780.18(b) Continued.
the event that the final grading occurs more than two weeks prior to
soil replacement, the final graded surface will be ripped prior to
soil placement. Subsoil will first be reapplied to the regraded land
in a thickness designated on Table 59, Soil Redistribution Plan.
After the subsoil has been reapplied, the topsoil will be
redistributed. Map 32, Kerr Mine Area Soil Redistribution and
Revegetation, visually depicts the schedule for topsoil replacement.
The reconstructed topsoil profile will be as designated on the same
table, and will be graded to assure a uniform and stable thickness
that is capable of supporting the proposed postmining land uses.

Following reapplication of subsoil, topsoil, and final grading, the
topsoil will be scarified with a chisel plow to alleviate compaction
caused by the machinery, and to promote root penetration of the
planted vegetation.

780-70 aaaaaR
Revised - January, 1991
