Conclusicn
e area to be disturbed with this
will minimize Lt
S
roject
For ease of
ermittir~ •
eneca i p
p
.
g
purposes, the Loral permit a[ea added in this revision was consider_d to b_ disturbed.
This, Sn fact, will definitely net be [he case since most of the deadhead routes will only
need tc be 60 feet wide. Sere ca also is tr yi rig to co mplete this move before adverse
weather conditions start during fall 1956, and to avoid a disruption in stripping plans.
Actual Ctaqline MOVe
The 650 dragline completed stripping at the Sere ca II Mine cn October e, 1996 and
initiated its deadheatl to Yeast cn this same day. The dragline calked across Routt County
Road 27 on Surid ay morning, October 13, ar~d reached the drainage under the powerlines later
[hat evening. Significant work had to be accomplSShed to lower the boom and replace all
the wire ropes to allow the dragline to walk safely under the powerlines without causing
damage to the boom. IL crossed under [he powerlines on Eriday afternoon, October 1B,
saf el_v and without incident. The 650 reached the Yoas[ mining area on the morning of
Octobe[ 22. The move occurred approximately three weeks later than anti ci oared since one
additional Wadga pit was stripped, very low overburden, at Seneca II. •
Revised Reclamation Schedule and Plans
Originally, Se rye ca anticipated that tecLart~ation of the two deadhead roads would be
templet ed within three to four weeks followi rig the dragline move. Unfortunately, since
the dragline reached the drainage under the powerlines, the weather and subsequent gro~md
conditions have not been conducive to proceed or Lo finish the teclama tlon activities on
ei Lt,er deadhead road. Since the middle of Cct ober, rain and snow have not allowed the
grountl conditions to either dry out or freeze where gtadir,g work could be done in an
effective a~a nner. 9ecause cf this, Serer_a is reguesting a delay in completion of these
r=clan,=_ticn activities until the string of '_397 to aeproved. °=cause of the existing
ground conditions, it does not appear that any grading will occur until after Boring
runt.°.
P.11 apptoctiate toad berms, silt fence, and hay bates are sCi11 in place to minimize
sediment runoff. Construction of the teclai¢ed dta uia ge channel has started, but is not
ceme'_ete. A Lertioerary topsoil s*_ocl:pile was consiruci ed jest north of Raul Road ;v Isee
ure 11
This to
soil will
Fi be utilized i^ fECl aiming rte disturbed area adjacen= to
p
g
.
Routt Cu.czy Rcad 27, whi c!1 is where th,e topsoil came from .
13-10-6 Revised 12/20/96
