This assessment is changed. The site falls within the LCRHL and is <br />recommended to be contributing to the significance of the district. It is typical of sites presumed to <br />be pinon nut and atom procurement and processing loci. However, because SLA6960 falls within <br />the P3 haul road corridor and had been recommended for cultural resource clearance prior to the <br />creation of the landscape (McKibbin 1997a), further field work is recommended only if it can be <br />accomplished without delaying the construction of the road (McKibbin 1997a:7). <br />SLA6966: SLA6966 was recorded in 1996 during field work for the surface mine area of the <br />Lorencito Canyon Mine (McKibbin et al. 1997). It is located within the area surveyed for the OOl <br />and 007 sedimentation ponds. The site is located just south of and outside the bounds of <br />sedimentation pond 007 and may not be impacted. No new observations were made at this site in <br />1997. <br />SLA6966 was recommended to be not eligible for the National Register at the time of its <br />. original recording. The site falls within the LCRHL and is recommended to benon-contributing to <br />the significance ofthe district. It includes few cultural materials (16 flakes and four chipped stone <br />
