•
LJ
•
2.05.3
(ii)(C) Operations and maintenance requirements for ponds B, C, J, K, F and the
gob pile pond are the same. The sediment ponds must be dewatered if they
contain water above the maximum sediment level. Pond C must be
dewatered between each mine discharge event to assure the pond maintains
the capacity to contain the 10-year, 24-hour precipitation event. Dewatering
events should occur within 48 hours after the storm event or mine discharge
which caused the water accumulation. Sediment must be removed from the
sediment ponds. Ponds B and C are designed to contain a one year sediment
load which is less than the more typical three year sediment design load. Pond J
is designed to contain a two year sediment load. Therefore, the sediment from
the ponds may have to be removed more frequently. Sediment will be removed
from ponds B, C, J, K and F and the gob pile sediment pond no later than when
the ponds are 75% full of sediment. Markers will be installed in Pond F clearly
indicating the required sediment cleanout level and maximum water level that
could occur while still allowing ample storage for the design event.
(ii)(D) Sediment ponds B, C, J, K, F and the gob pile sediment pond will be removed
after the site has been reclaimed and the vegetation on the reclaimed site is
adequate to control erosion. Pond removal must be authorized by the Division
and the untreated drainage from the disturbed area ceases to contribute
additional suspended solids above natural conditions.
(iii)
(b)
(c)
(d)
TR-43
A PPRovEp
9 ~ r r~o 6
None of the sediment ponds meet the size requirements of this section, therefore
this section is not applicable.
The sediment ponds are considered temporary ponds and are designed to meet
the requirements of Rules 4.05.6 and 4.05.9.
Not applicable.
Collection ditches and diversion ditches have been designed to comply with the
requirements of rules 4.05.3 and 4.05.4.
Small Area Exemptions (SAE)
The locations of the small area exemptions are presented on Map 20. The
Applicant will monitor the flow from the small area exemptions to assure
compliance with 4.05.2(3). The Applicant will use its best efforts to obtain
samples. The samples will be analyzed for pH, conductivity and total settleable
solids. Samples will be in compliance if they contain settleable solid levels of 0.5
ml/I or less and the pH is greater than 6.5 and less than 9.0.
2.05 - 32 - 07/06
