Sedlmentetlon Structures
Eeeh sedimentation structure has a design report which evaluates the structure based on
the requirements of the regulations and si te-speeific conditions.
Diversions and Ditches
The peek discharge rate of each diversion end ditch was calculated using SEDCAD analysis
and the general hydrology design method previously mentioned. After the discharge rate
was determined, a channel section was selected end analyzed by the diversion design
routine of SEDCAD or using Dodson and Associates, Inc.'s computer software. The
velocity of the channel was compered to the limiting velocity for that type of channel.
Culverts
The peak discharge rate of each culvert watershed was determined by using the SEDCAD
computer program. Addendum 1 contains typical SEDCAD inputs for culverts and ditches.
After the discharge rate was calculated, the size of a proposed culvert was determined and
analyzed using Dodson end Associates, Int.'s software (Addendum 2). Existing culverts
were analyzed and the available headwater was compared to design headwater and adequate
freeboard was determined. •
Selected References
Barfield, B.J., Warner, R.C., and Haan, C.T. 1983.
