•
Exhibit D - `!ininQ Plan
Area to be Mined
The site to be mined lies approximately 0.25 mile north of Florence on
a high, dry terrace formed by the historic occupation of the Arkansas
River. The upper surface of the terrace has minimal relief, ranging from
nearly level to a few percent. The slope increases on the terrace
outslope.
The Exhibit C map illustrates the permit area and other pertinent
features required to be shown.
Soil Salvaee
The topsoil in this area is relatively thin, in general averaging only
a few inches in thickness, and contains a high percentage of gravel.
Information regarding the sites soil resources is provided in Exhibit I.
The upper 6 inches will be stripped and stockpiled at various locations
around the perimeter of the affected area. As a stabilization measure,
soil stockpiles will be broadcast seeded with a perennial sod-forming
grass, such as western wheatgrass.
Natural Gas Pioeline
A buried natural gas pipeline crosses the permit area as illustrated
on the Exhibit C map. This pipeline is owned by the Colorado Interstate
Gas Company. The line will either be left in place, with 25 foot setbacks
maintained, or relocated outside the permit area to accommodate the mining
operation. A worst case condition (the pipeline remains on site) is
assumed for the purposes of the narratives below, illustration of map
Exhibits C and F, and reclamation cost estimates of Exhibit L.
-4-
