SECTION 6.0 LIVESTOCR PONDS
Section 3.6.3.8 of Trapper's Mining and Reclamation permit requires that
Trapper provide the Division with a map showing locations of the ponds con-
structed the previous year and the proposed locations for the upcoming year.
The enclosed map presents those ponds constructed in 1987 and proposed pond
locations for 1988.
As also outlined in Section 3.6.3.8, pond densities are not to exceed one pond
per ten acres. The approximate density of ponds constructed in Ashmore,
Derringer, and Enfield pits at the end of 1987 is as follows:
Area Ponds
Ashmore pit 15
Derringer pit 25
Enfield pit 18
Approximate Average
Drainage Acres/Pond
50.5
12.2
13.6
With additional regrading and/or topsoiling proposed for 1988, the drainage
area within each pit will increase so as to accommodate additional pond con-
struction. The enclosed map shows 34 additional pond locations that may be
constructed to accommodate the optimum number of ponds for livestock use on
the area. The additional ponds, if constructed, will be completed by October
31, 1988. Following is the approximate drainage area proposed in each pit
with additional construction.
Area Ponds
Ashmore pit 39
Derringer pit 30
Enfield pit 23
Approximate Average
Drainage Acres/Pond
19.4
11.6
12.9
As has been the case with past pond construction, any future pond construction
will meet or exceed state and federal standards and specifications. After
newly constructed livestock ponds have been inspected by the SCS, we will
forward their letter of approval to the Division. Included are the letters of
approval for the 1987 ponds.
LWH/WA/jb 2/88
