In
February, 1985, we started clearing trees and brush. We cleared about
four acres, part of the area had no trees. We left the area alone for
three weeks after the trees were cleared hoping this area would dry out.
We staked off the 100' buffer from the river. We tried to build
berm with loader, but the ground was too soft. We had to strip with a
back hoe because the overburden was so muddy when it was piled up,
it would run over into the buffer zone. As this area is drying up,
we will repair all the disturbed area. The next problem we had in this
buffer zone was during the high water run off. 'de had 10' to 20' of
bank come off on the west end where the river bends. I have some
pictures showing the trees that fell into the river.
The only way we can correct this is to wait until low water this
winter and rip rap along this bank. Then cae can move our dyke over in
this area to maintain the 100' buffer zone. We will make every effort
to correct this area.
We have top soil piled in two areas of the pit
northeast area. And one pile on the west side.
One on the
ROCKV FORD LAM AR CANON CITY
