1
the property. The outlet will lower the lake level which, in
turn, will lower ground water levels throughout the property and
will ensure that the water table is far beneath the land sur-
face to prevent sub-irrigation.
Water use on a property after reclamation will be limited strictly
I to effective precipitation or that amount of water available
from total precipitation that will be used by dry grassland.
The dry grassland acreage will not use any additional irri-
gation water nor will the acreage use any ground water. By
t restricting mining to that part of the gravel that occurs above
the water table and by constructing an outlet drain from the
lake to the river on the eastern part of the property, water
use on the property resulting from mining will not exceed that
of effective precipitation.
Water quality discharge standards for streams in Colorado
are limited to suspended solids and pH, the standards are
presented below:
WASTE DISCHARGE STANDARDS
Constituent Limit
Suspended solids 30 mg/1
pH 6-9
A pump with a gravel filter will be used to discharge water
from the site. The gravel filter will remove any suspended
solids from the water prior to discharges. The pH is naturally
within the discharge limits; no mitigation measures are required.
C-7
