1
r dissolved solids concentrations can be as much as 1500 mg/1 and
the pH ranges from 6.5 to 7.5.
Historic Land Use

Land use prior to mining in the Greeley area included a mix-
ture of dry pasture and irrigated crops. Crops were irrigated
by laterals from a ditch that does not traverse the property.
f Part of the property was not irrigated but was used for pasture
and grazing. No water was applied to this acreage. There are
'
no areas that are sub-irrigated on the property or immediately
adjacent to the property. Water levels of 10 feet or greater
beneath the land surface are of sufficient depth to prevent the
growth of phreatophytes throughout the mining site. No water
remains attached to the land. The water that was historically
'
used to irrigate crops on the property
is not owned by Flatiron
and will be transferred to another place on the floodplain of
the river to irrigate other crops.

Future Land Use
' The future land and water use after mining will include open
surface water and dry grassland. The land will be reclaimed
by Flatiron Paving Company of Greeley so as to provide for the
minimum amount of future water use throughout the site. The
'
future land and water use is presented in the table below:
FUTURE LAND AND WATER USE
Land Use Size, ac Evaporation, ft. Total Water Use, of
Open water 18* 2.5 45
Dry grassland 182 0 0
200 ac 45af
*
area of lake that was created prior to enactment of the present
C-5
