We have prepared this letter to address those
issues one-by-one and have enclosed the relevant revisions and additions to the 110c Application.
ADEQUACY ISSUES
Exhibit A -Location Map
Please submit an index map with sections indicated, similar to a U.S.G.S quadrangle, so the
location legal description can be verified. It appears the location is in the SW/4SE/4 of Section 36,
contrary to that indicated on the application. It appears the location specified in the previous
public notices was correct. Please submit verification of the recent publication so DRMS can
verify it specified the correct location as well. If so, the only revision necessary is to correct Item
No. 10 on the application form and any other incorrect reference to the SW/4SW/4 sec. 36 in the
application. If any of the public notices indicated the incorrect location, they will need to be re-
issued.
An index map, titled Figure A-1, is located in Attachment 1. As illustrated on the map, the correct location
of the proposed material mine is a portion of SW1/4SE1/4 of Section 36, Township 6S, Range 98W and a
portion of NEi/4NW1/4 of Section 4, Township 5S, Range 98W in Ganleld County, Colorado. The
publications that appeared in the Glenwood Springs Post Independent and the Citizen Telegram, on July
14, 2006 and July 20, 2006, respectively, did include correct references to the proposed mine location.
Proofs of Publication are located in Attachment 2. As requested, Item No.10 on the application form has
been corrected, as have any other references to the SW/4SW/4 sec. 36 in the application.
Exhibit B -Site Description
2. Please verify with the Colorado Division of Wildlife that this location does not support any critical
habitat for the Greater Sage-grouse and, if applicable, indicate what measures will be
implemented to protect this species of concern.
Cordilleran Compliance Services Inc. contacted John Toolen, Wildlife Conservation Biologist for the
Colorado Division of Wildlife, on August 18, 2006. Mr Toolen conferred with Travis Harris, DeBeque
District Wildlife Manager, and this is the a-mail correspondence that was sent to Cordilleran by Mr.
Toolen:
"l spoke with DeBeque District Wildlife Manager Travis Harris, and we bofh agree that Greater Sage
Grouse are not an issue at the proposed gravel pit site on in Clear Creek Canyon on Chevron's lands in
Cordilleran Compliance Services, Inc.
Grand Junction, CO • Denver, CO • Casper, WY • Laramie, WY • Lander, WY
Environmental Consulting Engineers and Scientists
