RECLAMATION REPORT
Goal
Mining at the Chambers Pit is the vehicle chosen to achieve the
reclamation goal of improving the land for agriculture. The proposed
mining operation will alter the current topography of the property.
Embankments created will be no more steep, and in Area B will be
less steep, than those currently existing. Terrain will be better
suited to agriculture and less of a safety hazard than now exists.
Land below the embankment will be graded to allow better use of
irrigation flows. The visual appearance of the north terrace above
the Eagle River will be similar to that already existing to the
west. Topography created will blend with that in the Eagle area
visually and will not disrupt existing drainage patterns. No
irrigation ditches which carry water off-site will be disturbed.
Land Use
This site is currently used for agriculture purposes, including
grazing, alfalfa and grain crops. Reclamation will improve the land
for agricultural purposes by improving grades for irrigation flows
and by reducing the steepness of terrace slopes in Area B. A pond
of approximately 4.5 acres will be excavated.
Grading
Excavation at Area A will leave a 2:1 terrace face below which will
lie a pond. Pond banks will be graded in conformance with Mined
Land Reclamation Board standards to provide easy egress from the water.
At Area B the terrace face will be mined to an approximate 3:1
E-1
