RECLAMATION BOND EVALUATION WORKSHEET
SERIAL OR FILE NUMBER: COC-67276 MRLD NO. M-92-058
PROJECT NAME OR IDENTIFIER: MICA WHITE MINE,
COLORADO QUARRIES, OWNER
JOB DESCRIPTION: [1] PIT RECLAMATION
[2] ROAD RECLAMATION
BASIC CONDITIONS AND ASSUMPTIONS:
PIT RECLAMATION. The final configuration of the pit as planned by Colorado Quarries is shown on the
attached Map. The shape in Plan will be an elongated oval. The overall average dimensions will be
approximately 815 feet long by 300 feet wide, which total approximately 5.7 acres. It will consist of a
number of benches, shown on the map, with a pit floor of approximately 2.0 acres.
Because of nan•ow bench width, dozer size will be restricted to no larger than a John Deere 550 or a
Caterpillar D-4. In these calculations, it is assumed that each bench with south-facing slope (8'-10' wide)
would require 2 passes with adozer-pulled ripper, one going to the end of the bench and one returning. (For
these benches, the two passes would overlap). Each bench with north-facing slope (12" wide) also will
require 2 passes with adozer-pulled ripper (these will not overlap or will overlap slightly). Maximum
assumed speed would be'/z mph [44 ft./min]. A 2 minute turn-around time is assumed in moving up or down
from one bench to another. 75% efficiency also is assumed.
To simplify calculations the bench azea was divided into 11 blocks, which were overlain on Map I (but not
included herein). Blocks on south-facing slopes will require 2 passes with the dozer; blocks on north-facing
slopes will require 3 passes with the dozer. Dozer time was calculated separately for each block and then
totaled. This was then multiplied by the cost/minute to get asub-total for each block.
The pit floor was azbitrazily divided into 15 12-foot wide strips for purposes of calculation. Because of
overlap of dozer passes, it was assumed that each strip would require 2'/z passes of the dozer. It also was
assumed that 2 minutes would be used to turn aoound at the end of each pass, and because of the fairly flat
surface, an efficiency of 80% was assumed for this part of the operation.
Machinery costs estimates were provided by Colorado Machinery, 685 Enterprise Drive, Pueblo West,
81007. Estimate used John Deere Mode1550H, renting at $300.00 per day.
JOB DESCRIP'T'ION: UNIT COST NUMBER OF UNITS SUBTOTALS/
PIT RECLAMATION TOTAL
BLOCK A $300/day @ 8 . 11 benches totaling 1369 feet @ 44
DOZING & hrs/d = $0.625 fdmin X 2 = 62 rains + 12 rains $60.00
RIPPING per minute [75% efficiency] + 22 rains (turn-
BENCHES azommd time] = 96 minutes
BLOCK B 13 benches totaling 2479 ft @ 44
DOZING & Same as above ft/min X 2 = 112 rains + 22 miss $100.00
RIPPING [75% efficiency] + 26 wins [turn-
BENCI~S aoound time] = 160 minutes
BLOCK C 13 benches totaling 1319ft @ 44
DOZING & Same as above ftlmin X 2 = 60 rains + 12 rains $61.25
RIPPING [75% efficiency] + 98 rains (turn-
BENCHES around time] = 64 minutes
