EXHIBIT G - l-LATER INFORMATION
The aquifer system at the D. A. Shale/Callahan property is a two aquifer
system separated by the impermeable Mahogany Zone. This system is composed of
an upper aquifer extending down from the "broken or fractured zone" to the top
of the Mahogany Zone a'distance of 250 feet. The lower aquifer is in the bottom
30 feet of the Pahogany Zone and extends down below the lean B-groove at the base
_. of the Pahogany Zone, a distance of 50 feet.
Due to. the small amount of water in the groundwater system and hence the
small amount of excess water at Logan Wash after mining uses, this excess is
evaporated by spraying over the raw shale dump. Also, alluvial monitoring wells
are located below the dump to check if any of the sprayed water does not evapor-
ate and reaches the alluvium.
The estimated water requirements for the D.A. Shale project are approximately
4-5 gpm for development and mining. This need usually is met by the groundwater
in storage, but in dry years as was 1977, this need is augmented by the purchase
of water from individuals who have more senior water rights in the area.
Due to the low water requirements of the Logan flash plant, all water re-
quirements for the operations and mining have been fulfilled by groundwater in
storage. If this requirement increases, water will be purchased from sources with
more senior water rights in the area.
A NPDES permit has been issued (#CO-0029947) for the Logan hash site by the
lJater Quality Control Division of the Colorado Department of Health.
Being a small development operation, there will not be a measurable material
injury to any senior water rights in the Logan Wash area.
