C <br /> <br />i <br />STEP 5: Compact and walk-in seed with bulldozer on benches, other areas <br />will be hand-raked to cover the seed. <br />STEP 6:-Cover in the fall with excelsior or jute matting. <br />STEP 7: In earlyspring, shrubs will be .transplanted early enough to ex- <br />pect a period of 4 to 6 weeks when soil moisture remains adequate for develop- I ' <br />ment of a good root system. Transplanting in any season other than spring is <br />not likely to be successful unless supplementary water can be supplied.. ~ <br />STEP 8: Each year following the reclamation effort, the area will be <br />evaluated to determine successfulness. If after three years the area or a por- <br />tion of the area is not successful it will be replanted or a new reclamation <br />plan evaluated. ~ <br />Reclamation costs/acre are roughly: <br />1. WATER QUALITY <br />The current monitoring program now being carried out by Occidental in <br />Roan Creek, Logan Wash and Dry Gulch with respect to water quality will be <br />continued. In addition, the following programs have been undertaken: <br />monitoring the water quality in the aquifer which exists below the area of <br />Dry Gulch affected by the raw oil shale, a yearly photo series across the pile <br />Ex. E - 5 <br />
