• The 1979 growing season included estimates on herbaceous plant <br />production and shrub production. The 1980 growing season included <br />estimates on herbaceous production only. <br />The alkali sagebrush permit area in 1979 had a total production <br />of 298.2 lbs/acre. Shrub production was 203.6 lbs/acre comprising <br />over two-thirds the annual production. Grass production was 77.0 <br />lbs/acre, half-shrubs 12.1 lbs/acre and forbs 5.4 lbs/acre. ~ <br />The 1979 reference area had a total of 188.4 lbs/acre of <br />annual production. Shrubs comprised 128.1 lbs/acre, grasses 52.4 <br />lbs/acre, forbs 6.7 lbs/acre and half-shrubs 1.2 lbs/acre. <br />The alkali sagebrush permit area in 1980 had a total annual <br />herbaceous production of 84.2 lbs/acre; while the 1980 reference <br />area had a total annual herbaceous production of 108.1 lbs/acre. <br />Forb production was much higher in 1980 than 1979. Infact, forb <br />• production exceeded grass production in the reference area in <br />1980. <br />Weed Species <br />No species listed as noxious weeks by the State of Colorado <br />were found in the permit area. <br />winter Browse Species <br />Several important winter browse species used occasionally by <br />livestock and wildlife were noted and include big sagebrush, <br />rabbitbrush, and alkali sagebrush. <br />Rare, Endangered and Threatened Species <br />No species considered rare, endangered or threatened occur <br />• <br />-9- <br />
