• Hoods phlox and longleaf aster are the dominant forbs while alkali <br />sage and douglas rabbitbrush are the dominant shrubs. <br />Cover. A summary of vegetative cover for lifeform for the <br />1979 and 1980 growing seasons for the permit area and reference area <br />is presented in Table 2F. For the 1979 growing season grasses <br />comprised 128 of the total cover, forbs 1.58, half-shrubs 3,08 <br />shrubs 12.0$, succulents 0.58, xanthoparmelia 3.58, litter 6.08 <br />and bareground 61.58. For the 1980 growing season grasses comprised <br />16.08 of the total cover, grasslike 1.08, perennial forbs 3.08, <br />half-shrubs 6.58, shrubs 12.58, 148 litter, 468 bareground and 18 <br />rock. Total vegetative cover for the 1979 and 1980. <br />Species composition is sported in Table 7F. These values <br />represent relative cover estimates taken during 1980. Cover data <br />by species is reported for the permit area and 2.0 acre reference <br />area. Letterman needlegrass is the dominant grass comprising 8.08 <br />• of the cover of the reference area and 9.08 of the permit area. <br />Prairie junegrass cover was estimated at 5.08 and 3.58 of the <br />reference area and permit area respectively.
