.-2-
January 10, 1983
, Ms. Carol Russell
The area will be regraded to approximately the original contours and
topsoil will be replaced. The affected area will then be reseeded using
the approved seed mixture and seeding rate.
Access is also required on a less frequent basis along the dewatering
line (Figure 4) and to the explosives bunker (Figure 5). Access to these
areas is necessary an average of less than once per week. Terrain in
both areas is gently sloping and no drainages are crossed. Travel along
the dewatering line will be via light-duty truck; small tractors will
be used to access the explosives bunker.
It is Dorchester's opinion that less surface damage would occur by overland
travel than would result from road construction and maintenance. For this
reason, Dorchester requested permission to use overland travel to access both
the dewatering line and the explosives bunker.
Overland travel in both cases will be restricted to a narrow corridor.
Operators will be instructed to avoid vehicular travel within these
corridors during times when excessive damage might occur (e.g. following
significant precipitation events).
Access along the corridors will be closed immediately following decommission-
ing and/or removal of the respective facilities. The areas within the
corridor will be ripped, plowed and scarified, as necessary, and will be
revegetated using the approved seed mixture and seeding rate.
Please call Mr. Jim Ericson, or me, if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Dean R.
