The Dry Fork C8H Allotment is located on the Paonia Ranger <br />District, Gunnison National Forest, Region 2, within <br />Gunnison County. Specific locations are: all or portions <br />of Sections 13, 14, 20 through 29, 32 through 36, T13S, <br />R90W, Sections 7 through 9, 16 through 22, 27 through 34, <br />T13S, R89W, Sections 1 through 4, 9 throuoh 14, and Sections <br />23 and 24, T14S, R90W, Sections 3 throuoh 10, 15 through 20, <br />T145, R89W. <br />B. AREA ACRES <br /> <br />Gross 31,849 <br />Alienated Land 583 <br />Net 31,266 <br />Closed to Livestock 0 <br />Unsuitable 16,142 <br />Suitable and Open 15,124 <br />• <br />C. Topoaraohv <br />C <br />Allotment elevations vary from 7,000 to 9,500 feet. The _ <br />Dry Fork C8H Allotment is bound on the north by North <br />Anthracite Creek; on the east by Coal Creek; on the south <br />by Gunnison Peak; and on the west by Lion Mesa patented <br />land. The topography of the allotment is crisscrossed <br />with steep canyon-like drainages. <br />D. Soils <br />Soils are relatively deep, sandy, clay loam. Rocks of the <br />general area are igneous intrusive rocks and shale. . <br />E. Precipitation <br />The average annual precipitation varies greatly with altitudinal <br />change; an average is 25 inches. Most of the precipitation <br />comes as snow, the remainder of the moisture is rain which <br />normally falls intermittently from April throuoh October. <br />F. Vegetation <br />Veeetation can be described by three major types, Gambel Oak <br />and Kentucky Bluegrass associztion, P,spen, and Engelmann <br />• Spruce.
