The alluvial (P-1), Lewis Shale (P-3), 2nd White (P-5), and 3rd White Sandstone
(P-8) wells in Pyeatt Gulch all contain water with field pH that is generally near neutral.
The 1996 values for alluvial wells J-1 and COY were slightly above neutral. The
field pH values for well 81-03a had been typically near 8.5. The field pH values fix the
GLUX-1 well were between 7.6 and 8.3 in 1996. The field pH for well GMP-1 varied from
7.4 to 8.4 in 1996.
3.4 SAR
The sodium-adsorption ratio (SAR) is tabulated on the second series of pages in
Table B-1. The SAR values measured for water from well GA-1 and GA-2 are low with an
average value of a few tenths. SAR values for water from well GB-2 are typically slightly
less than one. The SAR from well GB-5 was typically less than 10 prior to 1985. The SAR •
seemed to reach its peak value in 1989 at 32 with fluctuations ranging from 17.5 to 28 since
then.
The SAR of water from wells GC-1, GC-2, and GC-3 have been typically near 2.
No definite trends are shown by the data.
The Twenty Mile Sandstone water (wells GD-1 and GD-1(2)) has had variable
SAR values from 0.5 to 4.4. The SAR from well GD-2 has generally been close to 0.5.
Backfrll well GD-3 seems to contain water with a similar SAR value.
The average SAR values from well GE-1 for the last few years have been close
to 12. SAR values from well GE-2 have varied from 3.6 to 152 with a 1996 value of 45. A
3-10
