because well GD-1 (2) has been pumped consistently in the last few years. Field pH from
well GD-2 does not demonstrate a trend. The upgradient mining in the QR seams has not
significantly affected the pH in this area of the aquifer. The pH values from backfill well GD-
3 are near neutral for 1996 which is near the values in the native aquifer at well GD-2. The
QR aquifer at GE-1 has values above neutral with the 1996 pumped samples being slightly
above 7. The pH of water from well GE-2 has varied from slightly less than 7 to
approximately 9 with the latest value at 7.3. The pH values for well GE-3 showed variations
from 7.7 to 8.1 in 1996.
Twenty Mile Sandstone well GF-1 generally contains water with a pH near neutral,
while the latest pH from U aquifer well {GF-2) was 7.6. The KLM aquifer well (GF-3) at this
site contained water with a pH of approximately 8.5. A similar pH was observed for the HI
aquifer at well GF-4 in 1996. All three backfill wells, GF-5, GF-7, and GF-11, have field pH
values near neutral. The field pH in well GF-6 (QR) is also near neutral.
Well GP-1 (QR) has water with pH values above neutral, while well GP-2 (KLM)
water is generally near neutral. The field pH values for wells GP-3 and GP-4 have shown
little change for water collected from the HI and KLM aquifers, respectively. Well GP3 has
generally had pH values near neutral, while values for well GP-4 have been around 9.
Wells GP-5 and GP-6 are completed in the QR aquifer. The field pH values from
well GP-5 is generally above 8, while the pH from well GP-6 is generally above 7.
The latest field pH value for HI aquifer well GP-7 was 8.1, while previous values
are typically near 7. Additional sampling of well GP-7 is needed to determine whether a
change has occurred. Well GP-8 (KLM) water had a field pH of 7.7 in 1996. The 3rd White
Sandstone aquifer well GP-9 field pH values are typically near neutral.
3-9
