Commercial Sand and Gravel Deposits
Without any doubt, the proposed mining area contains
commercial quality and quantity of sand and gravel.
It has been estimated that the total area (369 acres)
contains 12,501,720 cubic yards of excavatable sand and
gravel. In addition, the subject area has been delineated
as mineral deposit-conservation area by both The Weld Count
Comprehensive Plan, Mineral Resources-Extraction P an,
Volume 11, and also
urn vey Special Put
Aggregate Resources
y the State of Colorado Ge~ical
ication 5-A, "Sand, Gravel and Qua
Colorado Front Range Counties`~-
Impact and Reclamation
Obviously the proposed extraction operation will ir-
reversibly alter the existing land form. Some temporary
surface instability will occur in a form of sloughing or
ravelling of slopes. No geologic hazards do presently exist
nor any will be created, because of the mining activity.
Sand and gravel is one of the more important and essential
commodities in our society. Most of our construction, be it
buildings or roads, and numerous other commercial industrial
enterprises and activities, require sand and gravel. It is
therefore felt that any possible minor and temporary adverse
impacts will be negated and exceeded by the beneficial
results to society by implementing this proposed mining and
reclamation activity, as submitted.
-12-
