The entire mining operation is in Routt <br />County, Colorado. <br />Most of Energy Mine No. 1 is on a hillside gently sloping toward Foidel <br />Creek, an intermittent stream, which is tributary to the Yampa River, <br />via Middle and Trout Creeks. A small portion of Energy Mine No. 1, <br />located on the extreme east side of the existing permit area, drains <br />directly to Middle Creek. <br />Two colored photographs with transparent overlays are shown as Figure <br />Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, to illustrate the area to be mined in Eckman <br />Park. <br />Energy Mine No. 2 is situated to the north of Energy Mine No. 1; the <br />entire Mine No. 2 area is drained by Fish Creek, a perennial stream. <br />r~~r.nrrc <br />• Energy Fuels produces high quality, low sulfur steam coal from several <br />mines located along the common rail spur. <br />Unlike many major coal producers, Energy Fuels does not have vast <br />amounts of coal reserves which can be produced while the company awaits <br />the approval of this mining and reclamation plan. The expedient appro- <br />val of the plan is imperative if Energy Fuels is to maintain its present <br />level of production and employment and if it is to meet obligations to <br />its customers. All of Energy Fuels' coal production is sold, and all <br />remaining coal reserves recoverable by surface mining methods are dedi- <br />cated to the fulfillment of its contracts with Public Service Company of <br />Colorado and Illinois Power. <br />Work Force <br /> As of July 1, 1979 a total of 465 employees made up the full work force <br /> of Energy Fuels' mines in Routt County. These employees received in <br /> excess of $8,500,689 in salaries and wages during 1978, making Energy <br />-6- <br />
