EXHIBIT B
MINTNG PLAN
Extraction of sand and gravel will be accomplished by the usual
surface mining methods, utilizing conventional earth moving equip-
ment. It is expect=ed that active operation of the facility will
take place about eight (8) months per year, April-November, and
it is planned that about one-seventh (1/7) of the total extrac-
tion project will tie completed per year; i.e, seven (7) years
for the life of thfa mine.
Extraction will begin at the Southeast corner of the project, and
proceed in a Northerly direction in accordance with annual phase
lines as shown on t:he accompanying map in this exhibit. This will
involve total extrsiction of product from about 1.42 acres per year,
which will hold annual tonnages being extracted at or below the
maximums specified for this class of mining operation. ~~'` "~~~~~~"'
An average of six (6) inches of topsoil covers the area. This
topsoil will be removed and segregated from other spoil. It will
be stockpiled so a:: to be preserved from wind and water erosion,
be protected from contamination, and be maintained in a useable
condition for sustz.ining vegetation when restored during reclama-
tion.
An additional five and one-half (5~) feet of overburden consisting
of sandy, silty clay, underlies the topsoil. This overburden will
be removed and stockpiled separately from topsoil, and then utili-
zed in subsurface reestablishment during the reclamation process.
Sand and gravel strata extends to an average depth of about six-
teen (16) feet beneath the overburden throughout the area to be
mined. This marketable product will be extracted and hauled away
by truck on the basis of current market demand. The product will
also be marketed on the basis of pit run gradation. Thus there
will be no requirement either for stockpiling or for screening
and grading the product being marketed.
