Banks and Gesso, LLC
Processing
The Plant Site area contains stationary and/or portable crushing, screening and washing
equipment used for the processing of the raw materials as well as a concrete and
asphalt plant. The finished processed materials will be delivered off-site. The Plant Site
area will be approximately 30 acres.
Mining will initially begin to the east of the plant site area. As mining progresses south, a
portion of the area will be converted into settling and clarified water ponds for the
processing facilities. Mining will continue south on the east side of the access road
toward a natural drainage area, which is the southern end of Phase 1. Mining will then
proceed back north on the west side of the access road toward the plant site. Once the
Phase 1 area is near mining completion, Phase 2 will be opened up starting on the east
side of the access road and south of the natural drainage area. Mining of Phase 2 will
progress south on the east side of the access road and then back north along the west
side of the property. Material from both Phase I and Phase 2 may be transported via
conveyor system to the processing plant at the Plant Area. Waste (undersized material)
from Phase 2 will be deposited in the sediment and silt cells.
Description of Overburden, Deposit and Underlying Stratum
Exploratory boreholes and test pits have been completed across the Sundance
Resources property and tests have been performed to verify that the sand and gravel
deposits are commercially marketable. Approximately 11 feet of overburden (including 8
inches of topsoil) will be removed from the mine areas and stockpiled for plant-growth
material in surface reclamation or used as backfill for the pit slopes. An average
thickness of approximately 25 feet of sand and gravel exists across the mine area.
Mining at the site is intended to progress down to the claystone bedrock.
Primary and Secondary Commodities
The primary commodity to be extracted is alluvial sand and gravel. It will be processed
and used internally or sold as construction aggregate. No secondary commodities are
expected.
Sundance Sand and Gravel Resource 06015
Lafarge West, Inc. 10 September 2006
