eh
ESPEY. HUSTON & ASSOCIATES, INC.
r J
L
A culvert, sized for the 25-yeaz, Z4-hour dischazge from the sediment
pond, will be placed under the roadway at Sta. 6 + 13, a detail of which may be seen
on Fig. 13.3.5. Rip rap is recommended at the pipe outlet to minimize erosion. At
approximately Sta. 11 + 10 a span of the roadway will be constructed to allow access
to the power substation. A culvert, sized to pass the flow in the wastershed
diversion ditch, will be placed under this road (see location on Figs. 13.1.4 and 13.3.6
and detail on Fig. 13.3.5). Access ramps to the disposal azea and topsoil stockpile
will be constructed as shown in plan view on Fig. 13.1.4. Culverts sized to pass the
flow in the sediment pond collector ditches will be placed under these ramps (see
detail, Fig. 13.3.5).
A twelve-inch layer of crushed stone or gravel is recommended as the
riding surface of the roadway (30 CFR 817.164).
13.3.6 The Topsoil Stockpile
•
The topsoil storage azea is shown on Fig. 13.1.4 in plan view and on
Fig. 13.1.5 in cross section. To the extent possible, topsoil will be removed and
replaced on finished azeas without being stored. This is not feasible for items of
initial construction. Topsoil which must be stored will be placed in the topsoil
stockpile at maximum slope of SH/IV and protected from erosion as discussed in
Sec. 13.5 (30 CFR 817.23).
13.4 PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTION
13.4.1 Prepazatory Construction
13.4.1.1 Topsoil Removal
As the preliminary step in each construction activity, A horizon soils will
be removed and stored in the topsoil stockpile or redistributed on completed areas,

13-12
