• Hydrologic Balance Surface runoff from all disturbed areas passes
through sedimentation ponds, except for access
roads where there was no upslope disturbance.
The ponds to be retained are permanent
impoundments and have sufficient volume to hold
the three highest years; sediment yield and
treat runoff from the 10-year, 29-hour storm
without discharging through the emergency
spillway.
Based upon the soils, vegetation, land use and
hydrology baseline sections, there were no
alluvial valley floors (AVFs) in disturbed
areas. However, areas adjacent to the mine
along Trout Creek are classified as AVFs.
Mining disturbed these areas to the extent that
dissolved solid concentrations in Trout Creek
will increase by 12 milligrams per liter.
• Fish and Wildlife
Management Based upon the reclamation plans, long-term
effects on fish and wildlife from mining are
minimal. During reclamation and until the
vegetation is established, wildlife will be
displaced from the disturbed areas. Similar
areas adjacent to the mine do not appear to be
at their carrying capacity, so it is possible
that the displaced wildlife have moved into
these areas.
•
Renewal-3 1.0-6 June 13, 1997
