• PERMEABILITY MEASUREMENTS
Date: January 20, 1983
Time: 8:00 a.m.
Permeability is measured by using a Ruska Air and Liquid permeameter.
Air, water, and Kerosene is used as the flowing media.
Ruska Liquid Permeameter
The four H2O saturated cores are tested for k to water by
flowing water through each core.
The Ruska Permeameter uses the time required to Elow 5 ml of
liquid through a core which is placed under a .25 to 2.0 Atm
pressure differential.
q u L (1000)
k =
A P
.~ and
where q = cc/sec.
~ cp
L=cm
A = cm
p P = Atm
Note: All four H2O saturated cores would not allow water to
flow through. (A 2.0 Atm OP is used and is held for
approximately 30 minutes and still no floe is detected).
(See the Permeability work sheet). Thus, the
permeability to water 0.0 md.
u
8
