Apply by ground <br />equipment or by air (helicopter only). Refer to the "Weeds Controlled" and <br />' Brash Species Controlled" for a listing of susceptible species. <br />Application Timing <br />Apply ESCORT° XP after weeds have emerged or after undesirable fiardwoods <br />have broken winter dormancy and have reached Ike point of full leaf expansion. <br />Conifer Site Preparation-Applicadon Before Transplanting <br />After consulting the "Weeds Controlled" end "Brash Species Controlled" tables <br />appl}t the rotes of ESCOR'I~ XP recommended for the most difficult m control <br />species on the site. <br />Southeast-Apply up to 4 oz per acre for loblolly and slash. Transplant the <br />following planting season. <br />Northeast and Lake States-Apply up to 2 oz per acre for red pine. Transplant <br />the following planting season. <br />West-Apply up to 2 oz per acre prior to planting Douglas Fv, Sitka Spmcc, <br />Western Red Cedar, Western Hemlock, Ponderosa Pine, and Grand Fu in the Coast <br />Range and wcstem slope of the Cascades in Oregon and Washington. These conifer <br />species listed can be planted anytime after application. Other coniftt species can <br />be planted providing the user has prior expenence indicating acceptable tolerance <br />to ESCORT° XP soil residues. Without prior experience, it is recommended that <br />other species be planted on a small scale m determine selecdvity before large scale <br />plantings arc made as unacceprable injury may occur. DuPont will not assume <br />responsibility for injury to any conifer species not ksted on this label. <br />Tank Mix Combinations- <br />Far broader spectrum control the following products are recommended in combi- <br />nation with ESCORT° XP. <br />"Accord" <br />lank mix ] to 2 ounces of ESCORT° XP with 2 ro ]0 quarts of "Accord" per <br />acre. Refer to the product container for a kst of species controlled. <br />°Arsemel" Applicator's Concentrate <br />Tank mix 1 to 2 ounces of ESCORT° XP with l0 m 24 fluid ounces of"Arsenal" <br />Applicator's Concentrate per acre. Loblolly and slash pines may be transplanted <br />[hc planting season following application. The combinatiom controls ash, black <br />gum, chary, hawthorn, honeysuckle, hophorobeaur, persimmon, oaks (red, white <br />and water), sassafras, sweetgum, Vaccimum species, and suppresses blackberry, <br />dogwood, elms, myrtle dehoen, hickories, and red maple. <br />°ACCOrd^ + "Arsenal" Applicators Concentrate <br />Tank mix 4z m 1 ounce of ESCOR7° XP with 16 to 64 fluid ounces of "Ac- <br />cord" and ] 0 to 12 fluid ounces of "Arsenal" Applicator's Concentrate per acre. <br />Slash and loblolly pines may be transplanted the planting season following appli- <br />catiom. The combination conWls cherry, dogwood, ehns, oaks (red and water), <br />persimmon, sassafras, sweetgwn and suppresses hickory. <br />DuPontTM VELPAR° L or DuPontTM VELPAR° DF <br />Tank mix ] to 2 ounces of ESCORT° XP per acre with VELPAR° L or VELPAR° <br />DF at the rotes recommended on the container far various soil textures. Loblolly <br />and slash pines may be transplanted the planting season following application. <br />Refer to the product container for a list of species controlled. <br />DuPontTM OUST° <br />Tank mix 4z m 14z ounces of ESCORT° XP with 2 to 3 ounccs.of OUST° per <br />acre for herbaceous weed control. Refer [o the product container and the "Weeds <br />Controlled" section of this label for a listing of the weeds controlled. Loblolly <br />and slash pines may be transplanted the planting season following application. <br />lank mix 2 ounces of ESCOR7~ XP with 3 ounces of OUST° per acre for <br />herbaceous weed control and early spring suppression of bull thistle and Canada <br />thistle in the Coast Range and wcstem slope of the Cascade Mountains. Douglas <br />fir may be transplanted at ]east 90 days following apphca[on. <br />Release-Hardwood ConVOI amd Suppression <br />DuPontTM ESCOR7° XP is mcommended for application over the top of esmb- <br />lished slash and loblolly pine to control the species listed in "Weeds Controlled" <br />and "Boob Species Controlled" sections of this label. The combination <br />' may be applied m loblolly and slash pines. <br />IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS-CONIFER PLANTATIONS ONLY <br />• Applicadmns of ESCOR'I~ XP made to conifers that ere suffering from loss <br />of vigor caused by insects, diseases, drought, winger damage, animal damage, <br />excessive soil moismrc, planting shock, or other stresses may injure or kill the <br />trees. <br />• Applications of ESCOR'I~ XP made for herbaceous release should only be <br />made after adequate rainfall has closed the planting slit and sealed the soil <br />around the roots following transplanting. <br />• Do no[ apply ESCOR7° XP m conifers grown as omamcnmis. <br />• ESCORT° XP applications may result in damage and mortality to other species <br />of conifers when they arc present on sites with those listed in the preceding <br />recommendations for conifer planmaons. <br />HARDWOOD PLANTATIONS <br />Application Information <br />ESCOR7° XP is mcommended at rotes up to 2 ounces per acre for the control of <br />many weed species on sites when yellow poplar is growing or ta to be planted <br />and on sites where red alder is to be planted. Apply by ground equipment or by - <br />air (helicopter only). Refer m the "Weeds Controlled" sections of thzs label fore <br />a listing of susceptible species. <br />Applicatlom Timing <br />ESCOR7° XP may be applied as a site prcparadon treatment Prior to planting <br />red alder or yellow poplar. As a prior to planMg, site preparation heatment for <br />red alder, ESCORi° XP may be rank mixed with other herbicides labeled for this <br />use. <br />ESCORT° XP may also be applied over-the-top of planted yellow poplar seedlings <br />aRcr the soil has settled around the root system bra before the seedlings have <br />broken domancy (prior to bud break). <br />Release-Herbaceous Weed Control <br />ESCOR'I® XP may be applied to yellow poplaz for the control of herbaceous com- <br />petitinn. Consult the "Weeds Controlled" for a listing of the suscepdble species <br />and recommended application rates. Best insults are obtained when ESCORI° <br />XP is applied just before weed emergence until shortly after weed emergence. <br />Tank Mlx Combinations- <br />Tank mix K ounce of ESCORT° XP with 4 to 6 pints of VELPAR° L as <br />recommended on the package label for "RELEASE~gERBACEOUS WEED <br />CONTROL" in pine plantations in the cascara U.S. Follow the VELPAR° L label <br />recommendations regarding altering the application rote by soil texture. <br />IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS-HARDWOOD PLANTATIONS ONLY <br />• Applications of VELPAR° L end ESCORT° XP made to yellow poplar that are <br />suffering from loss of vigor caused by insects, disease, drought, winter damage, <br />animal damage, excessive soil moisture, planting shock or other stresses may <br />injure or kill the seedlings. <br />• Applications of ESCOR7° XP made for release should only be made after <br />adequate rainfall has closed the planting slit end settled the soil around the <br />mots following transplanting. <br />• The use of surfactant is not recommended for applications made ovtt the tops <br />of trees. <br />• Careful consideration must be given by an experienced and knowledgeable <br />forester to match the requirements of yellow popar and/or red alder to the <br />conditions of the site.
