GENERAL INFORMATION ESCORTa XP herbicide is a dispersible granule that is mixed in water and applied as a spiny. ESCOR'f~ XP controls many annual and perennial weeds and woody plants in non-crop areas and conifer plantations. ESCOR7° XP may be used for general weed and bmsh conuol on industrial non<rop sits and for selective weed control in certain types of unimproved Nr( grosses on industrial sites end in native grosses. It can also be used for controlling and suppressing undesirable weeds and hardwoods in conifer plantations. ESCORT° XP controls weeds and woody plants primarily by postemergent activ- Al[hough ESCORT° XP has preemergence activity, best results are generally tamed when ESCORTo XP is applied to foliage afar emergence or dormancy ~eak. Except where noted, ESCOA'I® XP provides the best results when applied to young, actively growing weeds. The use rote depends upon the weed spectes and size at the time of application. ESCOR7° XP is noncortosive, nonflammable, nonvolatile and does not tmeze. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY '. ESCOR'I'O XP is absorbed primarily through the foliage of plants, and by the roots m a lesser degree. Plant cell division is gertemlly inhibited in sensitive plants within a few hours following uptake. Two to 4 weeks after application, Icaf growth slows followed by discolombon and tissue death. The final effect on annual weeds are evident about 4 to 6 weeks after application. The ultimate effect on perennial weeds and woody plants occurs in the growing season following application. Warm, moist conditions following treatment promote the activity of ESCOR7® XP, while cold, dry conditions may reduce or delay activity. Weeds and blush hardened off by cold weather or drought stress may not be controlled. The use of a surfactant is recommended to enhanec the control of susceptible plants, except where noted. Apply at a minimum rote {conceotratlon) of 7.% volume/volume (1 qt. per 100 gal. of spiny solution), or at the manufacrumr's recommended rote. Use only EPA approved surfactants containing at leas[ 80% active ingredirnt. Certain types of surfactants, such as those inwrpomting acetic acid (i.e. LI-700), may not be compatible with ESCORT° XP and may result in decreaxd performance. Certain surfactants may not be suitable for use on desimble plants, such as turf and conifers, listed an this label. Consult the surfactant manufacNrer's label for appropriate uses. Weed and bmsh control may be reduced if rainfall occurs soon after application. RESISTANCE Biotypes of certain weeds listed on [his label ere resistant m FSCOR'I® XP and other httbicides with the same mode of action, even at exaggerated application rotes. Biotypes are nammlly occurring individuals of a species [hat ere identical in appearance but have slightly different genetic compositions; the mode of action of a herbicide is the chemical inteme[ion [hat interrupts a biological process necessary far plant growth and developmrnt. If weed control is unsatisfactory, it may be necessary to retreat problem auras using a produce with t different mode of action, such es postemergence broadleaf and/or gross herbicides. If resismnt woad biotypes such as kochia, prickly revere, and Russian thistle are suspected or known to be present use stank-mix paMer with ESCORT° XP to help control these biotypes, or use s planned herbicide rotation program wham other residua] broadleaf herbicides having different modes of action are used. DIRECTIONS FOR USE It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. ESCORIe XP should be used only in accordance with recommendations on this label or in sepamtety published DuPont recommendations. DuPont will not be responsble for losses or damages resulting from the use of this product in any manner not specifically recommended by DuPont. User assumes all risks associated with such nonrccommended use. For tank mixes, use the most restrictive limitations from the labeling of the products being mixed. Use onty those rank mix patmers which are labeled for the appropriate use site. Do no[ apply more than 4 ounces of DuPontT'r ESCOR'I~ XP per acre per year. Do not use on food or feed crops except as recommended by tilts label or supplemental labeling. Do not apply this product in a way that wi0 contact workers or other persons, either direcdy or through drift. Only protected handlers rosy be in the area during application.
