Site
B will give direct information about neighboring wildlife
populations and projections of migrations onto the pit site.
High densities of the following mammals are known to reside in
the areas surrounding the pit site:
Peromyscus Maniculatus Deer Mouse
M icrotus Pennsylvanicus Meadow Vole
Ondatra Zibethica Muskrat..
Additionally, two Procyon Lotor (Racoon) were observed.
AVIAN SPECIES
Observations were made for avian wildlife acitvity at dawn and
in the late afternoon. Avian acitvity on both sites is extremely
heavy during the fall and spring periods of waterfowl migration.
The pit affords very valuable habitat to feeding and resting
waterfowl and shore birds. During the observation periods, the
following avian species were observed, though not in abundance:
Pica Pica Magpies
Fringillids Sparrow forms
P.,..o '~d .,f 4~ --
