• The following sections describe the assumptions and procedures utilized in
developing each component of the bonding cost estimate.
IDENTIFICA7ION OF DISTURBANCE AREAS
There are four (4) main areas of disturbance. They are the mine
facilities area, the refuse pile area, the Ponds 3 and 4 area, and the
loadout area. These areas are shown on the Loadout Area Soils Map (Map
15), and the Mine Surface Facilities Map, (Map 18).
DETERMINATION AND SEQUENCING OF RECLAMATION FUNCTIONS
Having identified the disturbance areas, the next step in developing the
bond cost estimate was to determine what reclamation function or
activities will be required to reclaim each disturbance area in accordance
• with the approved reclamation plan.
The following are the reclamation functions and sequencing for the given
disturbance areas.
I, Remove structures and facilities
2, Seal portals and open boreholes
3, Backfill and regrade disturbance areas
4. Reestablish drainages and place riprap materials as necessary
5. Rip regraded areas and replace topsoil
6. Revegetate disturbance areas
DETERMINATION OF MATERIAL HANDLING REQUIREMENT
In order to develop cost estimates for completion of various reclamation
functions, it was first necessary to quantify the volumes of material to
be handled. Material movement requirements for disturbance areas were
determined by comparing the design post-mining topography with the
existing topography and calculating differential cut and fill volumes.
The volume of sediment pond embankment material to be moved during pond
reclamation was determined directly from pond design specifications.
3
