The impact of maintenance vehicles on the County roadways are
usually minimal and of course necessary. The first year or two of
operation for the pit will be the predicted high use years, while
the Phantom Canyon Road is brought up to a more easily maintainable
condition. An estimated high volume would be thirty truckloads per
day, four days per week, two weeks per month, six months per year
(1,440 truckloads per year). Once the Phantom Canyon Road is in a
more easily maintained condition then regular maintenance would
require a much lower volume usage of the pit. An estimated low
volume would be ten truckloads per day, two day per week, one week
per month, eight months per year (160 truckloads per year).
Because of the narrow winding road, major maintenance will require
that temporary caution signs be placed in strategic locations along
the road and permanent caution and identification signs at the pit
entrance.
Fremont County plans to limit access to the pit by placing a
combination of berms, fencing and a gate along the entrance. The
gate will be locked at all times that the operator is not on site.
Fremont County does not plan on housing any hazardous materials or
hazardous waste on the site.
Fremont County does not anticipate the need for any public
utilities on site.
Thank you in advance for your rapid response in this matter. If
you have any questions or if we may be of assistance, please do not
hesitate to contact me at the Department.
Sincerely,
Marshall Butler
Assistant Planning Coordinator
