EXHIBIT D <br />MINING PLAN <br />• 32 ROAD GRAVEL PIT <br />The proposed 32 Road Gravel Pit is located approximately 5 miles <br />south of Clifton an the east side of Colorado Highway 146. The <br />gravel pit area is located on a high hill south of the Colorado <br />River. <br />The total disturbed area is 53 acres. The gravel pit area contains <br />52 acres and the haul road contains one acre. <br />Mini~hg will start on the east side of the pit and proceed to the <br />welt. A processing and stockpile site will be first located in <br />the eastern portion of ttie' pit. The processing site will move to <br />the west ahead of the mining until enough area has been mined to <br />relocate it to an area in which the gravel has been removed. <br />Mining will be done~iri phases containing from 5 to l0 acres. Topsoil <br />• will be s#ripped and the area mined out before another area is <br />disturbed. The time require_d_to complete_the mining of the entire <br />area is expected to take .six years. _ . _ . _. __ <br />TISe'first phase of the mining operation will be to strip and stockpile <br />topsoil: Topsoil Wi11 be removed and stockpiled using scrapers. <br />The topsoil will be stockpiled in the processing site. Topsoil <br />and overburden depth vary in thickness from two to five feet. <br />The dext phase of t?ie mining operation will be to mine the sand <br />and gravel and fralisport the material to the processing site. Mining <br />wi77 b~ done With frortt end loaders excavating and loading the material <br />inl;o"'tri-~ks` to bd transported to the processing site. The pit run <br />agcjr"egate'will be crushed and screened at the processing site to <br />make`gravel'products~for road construction. <br />• Gravel depth"varies from 12 to 17 feet, with the underlying material <br />being. shale. <br />
