Vegetation is oakbrush and <br />serviceberry. <br />MERGEL SERIES <br />The Mergel series consists of moderately deep and well drained soils <br />formed in alluvium or colluvium. They occupy fans and valley slopes. Mergel soils <br />• occur on slopes of 30 to 60 percent. The Mergel series is a member of the loamy- <br />skeletal, mixed family of Torriorthentic Haploborolls. A pedon was described at <br />sample point location 16, 220 feet west and 2,400 feet south of the northeast corner <br />of section 29, T20N, R93W. <br />Described Pedon: <br />Al 0 to 8 inches; grayish brown (lOYR 5/2) gravelly clay loam, <br />very dazk grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) moist; moderate medium <br />subangulaz blocky structure; slightly sticky and plastic; few <br />fine and medium roots; 20 percent angulaz gravels; clear <br />wavy boundazy. <br />AC 8 to 16 inches; grayish brown (lOYR 5/2) gravelly clay loam, <br />dark grayish brown (lOYR 4/2) moist; moderate fine angular <br />blocky structure; slightly sticky and plastic; few fine and <br />medium roots; strongly calcazeous, with calcareous coatings <br /> <br />
