BURNETTE SERIES
These are deep, well-drained soils formed on mountain side slopes from colluvium.
The Barnette series is a member of the fine, montmorillonitic family of Argic
Pachic Cyroborolls. Slopes aze 15 to 30 percent. The pedoa was described in the
waste dump azea, sample point number 10, 300 feet east and 800 feet north of the
southwest corner of section 21 at an elevation of approximately 7,200 feet.
Described Pedon:
Al 0 to 7 inches; dark grayish brown (lOYR 4/2) silty clay loam;
very dazk grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) moist; moderate medium
granulaz pazting to fine granulaz structure; friable; plastic
and slightly sticky; common fine roots; cleaz smooth boun-
• dazy; 5 percent gravels.
B1 7 to 14 inches; dazk grayish brown. (lOYR 4/2) silty clay loam,
very dark grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) moist; weak medium
subangulaz blocky pazting to medium fine granulaz; very
friable, plastic slightly sticky, common fine roots; cleaz wavy
boundazy.
B2t 14 to Z2 inches; dazk grayish brown (lOYR 4/2) silty clay,
very dazk gray (lOYR 3/1) moist; moderate medium angulaz
blocky; thin continuous clay films; friable, plastic and sticky;
few fine roots; gradual smooth boundary.
B35 22 to 43 inches; dark gray (lOYR 4/1) silty clay, very dark
gray (lOYR 3/1) moist; weak coazse blocky structure; thin
patchy clay films; friable, plastic and sticky; few fine roots;
gradual smooth boundary.
