eh ESPEY, HUSTON & ASSOCIATES, INC. <br />• <br />Distribution and Extent: The series is of moderate extent in eastern <br />Montana and possibly in Wyoming and North Dakota. <br />Series Established: The series was established in Judith Basin County, <br />Montana in 1960. <br />3.1.16 Vanda Series <br />The Vanda series consists of deep soils that formed in fine alluvium <br />mainly from sedimentary bedrock. <br />Typical Pedon: Vanda soils consist of silty clay loam with 0 to <br />15 percent slopes. <br />• <br />Al 0 to 3 inches; grayish brown (2.SY5/Z) light clay loam, dark grayish <br />brown (2.SY4/2) moist; moderate very fine and fine platy structure <br />in upper '/. to i4 inch, pazting to moderate very fine and fine <br />granules; slightly hazd, very friable; slightly sticky and slightly <br />plastic; few roots; calcazeous; moderately alkaline; abrupt smooth <br />boundary. (3 to 7 inches thick) <br />AC 3 to 8 inches; grayish brown (2.5Y5/2) silty clay loam, dazk grayish <br />brown (2.SY4/2) moist; moderate medium subangulaz blocky pazting <br />to moderate fine subangulaz blocky structure; slightly hazd, very <br />friable; sticky and plastic; common roots; calcareous, moderately <br />alkaline; cleaz smooth boundazy.
