The average annual soil temperature ranges from 30° to <br />411°F, and the frost-free season is less than 75 days. <br />Associated Soils: These aze the Pazachute, Northwater, and Irigul soils. <br />Pazachute soils have a lithic contact at depths of 20 to 40 inches. <br />Northwater soils have an azgillic horizon. Irigul soils have a lithic <br />contact at depths of 4 to 20 inches. <br />Drainage and Permeability: These soils aze well drained with medium <br />runoff and moderate permeability. <br />• <br />Use and Vegetation: Rhone soils aze used for grazing and wildlife. <br />Principal vegetation is Letterman's needlegrass, bluebunch wheatgrass, <br />bluegrass, elk sedge, big sagebrush, serviceberry, snowberry, larkspur, <br />milkvetch, fleabane, and lupine. <br />Distribution and Extent: The series is of moderate extent in <br />Northwestern Colorado. <br />Series Established: The series was established in the Rifle area, Garfield <br />County, Colorado in 1977. <br />3.1.13 Shawa Series <br />The Shawa series consists of deep soils that formed in thick alluvial or <br />alluvial-colluvial material derived primazily from igneous rocks. <br />Taxonomic Class: The Shawa soils aze fine-loamy, mixed Pachic <br />Aaploborolls. <br />• <br />I-35 <br />
