Gravel content of <br />the solum and C horizon ranges from 30 to 70 percent with at least the <br />lower pazt of the solum and C horizon containing in excess of 50 percent <br />coazse fragments. Thickness of the dark-colored surface horizon ranges <br />from 7 to 10 inches, depth to calcareous material ranges from 10 to 22 <br />inches, thickness of the solum ranges from 12 to 30 inches and depth to <br />any bedrock should be greater than 50 inches. <br />Geographic Setting: Redthayne soils aze gently to moderately sloping <br />alluvial fans. Average annual precipitation is 13 inches. Average annual <br />soil temperature is 40°F while the average summer soil temperature is <br />60°F. <br />• Drainage: These soils aze well to somewhat excessively drained. <br />Use and Vegetation: These soils aze of moderately important agricul- <br />tural use as native rangeland. Native plants are dominantly sage, cactus, <br />wheatgrass, and sandberg bluegrass. <br />Distribution and Extent: These aze moderately extensive soils in cold <br />high mountain valleys of western and northern Wyoming. <br />Series Proposed: The Series was proposed by the Standazd Soil Survey of <br />Lincoln County, Wyoming in 1963. The Series name is a coined name. <br />3.1.11 Rentsac Series <br />The Rentsac series consists of shallow soils formed in residuum from <br />sandstone. <br />• <br />I-30 <br />
