depths not to exceed'/. inch.
SEEDING DATES
October 15 -May 15 (soil should not be frozen or wet at planting)
MULCHING
Following seeding, the area should be mulched with aweed-free material. Native Bass hay
will satisfy this requirement, if the source is known to be weed-free. Weeds fbr this
purpose are defined to include noxious and controlled species as well as aggressive
common agricultural gasses including smooth brome (Brimus inermis), common timothy
(Phleum pratense), orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata), tall fescue (Festuca
arundinacea), meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis) crested wheatgrass (Agrovyron
cristatum or A. Desertorum), intermediate wheatgass (Agropyron intermediam), or
pubescent wheatgrass (Agropyron iricophorum). At least 50% of individual stems in
Bass hay mulch should be 10 inches or longer in length. Grass hay must be crimped into
the soil. Spring seeding will obviate the need for a durable (and more expen;•ive mulch)
since it will not be requved to protect the seedbed through a full high wind sr:ason.
Application rate is 4,000 pounds per acre. Psyllium based tackifier will be used at the rate
of 1501bs per acres. Jute netting or excelsior blanket (with bin-degadable netting
ONLY!) are recommended for slopes Beater than 3 to 1. Hydromulch is an ;tcceptable
alternative only if it is applied after seeding.
GRASS SEED biIX FOR VARRA PROPERTY
Species Common Name Varkty Lb• %
Acrc •/.
11ti= ;.b•^/
Acre N s~xd/
S Ft
Grasses
SchiZachyriwn
sco ariwn Li[Ue bluest Native or
Pasture 7.0 10.3 0.7 4.2
SparoboluJ
C tmldrLJ Send dropseed Native # 0.5 4.9 0.03 2.4
Bovtelous aciliJ Blue Native # 3.0 13.9 0.4 7.8
BautelouJ
curls ndula Sideouts grema Vaughn 9.0 9.5 0.9 4.1
Stipa viridula Green ruxdlegeass Native or
Lordan 10.0 10.2 1 4.1
Agropyron amithii Western wheatgrass Native or
Amba 16.0 29.6 4.8 12.
