It is estimated that the size of the excavated area will be 5 acres at any given
time, and that the remaining 4.5 acres will be devoted to product stockpile,
topsoil stockpile, and all the related processing equipment, which will include
portable crushing, and screening plants. This will account for the 9.5 acre
floating bond.
Sequencing the events of the mining operation are as the market demands, and
it is not feasible to predict with any accuracy at this time, however, as stated
above the plan is well thought out and will be done in manner to facilitate
reclamation. The life of this mine will be over 5 years.
As stated above, gravel is the main commodity to be mined at the Cucharas Pit,
and there are no other commodities to be mined.
f. There will be no significant disturbances outside of the 9.5 acres that we require
to open this gravel pit.
Regarding sizes and dimension of pit excavation and stockpiles; definite amounts
will not be known until time of excavation. We will notify the division of the sizes
and dimensions of both the pit excavation and stockpiles when we are able to
obtain them.
g. There is an existing two track trail from County Road 121 that will be upgraded
and we anticipate making a travel way 20 feet wide with use of several culverts
to accommodate drainage of storm water. See attached legal description,
Exhibit C-1.
h. Little or no water will be used for the mining operation. When and if water will
be needed for the proposed mining operation or for the purpose of reducing the
dust on the road, it will be obtained from sources the operator has and has
approved for use.
i. There are no water sources such as lakes, streams, springs, stock water ponds,
ditches, reservoirs, and or aquifers on or around the proposed mining area.
There are no wells located within 1000 feet of the site. Due to the soil and little
or no slopes, there will be little to no storm water runoff. We will not be storing
any of the storm water runoff, therefore, we will not interfere with any irrigation
or water well rights. There is also no evidence of ground water that will be
affected by the gravel pit operations. No water will accumulate on or around the
proposed mining area because of the composition of the underlying shale seam.
Consequently, we do not expect to affect the hydrologic balance of surface or
ground water resources in the area of injury.
