. • • III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
s~
EXHIBIT B - MINING PLAN
Taminco, Inc.
Monogram Mines (Union Carbide Lease)
July 3, 197E
Taminco, Inc. holds a mining lease from Union Carbide
Corporation on portions of the Monogram group of claims
which it operat~ua-under the name Monogram Mines (Union
Carbide lease). The Monogram area has a long history of
mining extending back to the early part of the century which
has resulted in numerous interconnected and adjacent mine
workings. The uranium-vanadium deposits are often small and
erratic, varying in depth from surface exposures to several
hundred feet depending on the canyon-and-mesa topography
typical of the Uravan mineral belt. Past activities have
provided most of the access and drill roads, power and
telephone lines, waste dumps and surfaces facilities necessary
to resume operations. Thesa existing appurtenances will be
utilized where feasible in conducting the planned operations.
Therefore, additional surface disturbance will be kept to a
minimum.
The mines were considered essentially worked out until
the recent advance in the price of uranium justified yet
another round of activity. The current mining program will
consist predominately of a series of small cleanup operations
with old workings explored and rehabilitated where results
justify. The work will involve mostly underground mining,
however, some surface mining will be conducted to extract
shallow deposits. Ore leads exposed in the existing workings
are testholed and/or followed, surface exploratory holes are
drilled to search for and delineate new deposits, and venti-
lation holes and raises are required to control radon con-
centrations in the working areas. IJue to the erratic nature
and generally small size of the deposits, flexibility to
adjust to developing conditions must be incorporated in the
mining program. Production from the various mine entries
B-1
