SHELTO N, Director
Richartl D. Lamm
Governor
January 2, 1986
Mr. Douglas Bachli
3700 W. 69th Place
P.O. Box 846
Westminister, Colorado 80030
Re: Rocky Road Quarry Permit Application - File No. M-85-210
Dear Mr. Bachli:
The Division has completed our review of the above referenced permi
application. The following inadequacies have been identified and m st be
addressed prior to permit approval.
Exhibit B - Mining Plan
1. The reclamation plan indicates that "whenever possible, oi] will
be used...". The mining plan gives no indication of topsoil salvage
methods and storage of salvaged topsoil. If possible the op rotor
should commit to salvaging the top 4-6 inches of topsoil and rubble
overburden for later replacement.
2. Will all mining take place in previously existing quarries?
Exhibit C - Map
1. The application indicates that each red circle is approx'mately 1
acre. Since the permit application was for 2 acres the perm t would
only encompass the areas within these circles. No expansion as
indicated on the map could occur as part of this permit. Th ref ore,
the permit boundary needs to be changed to include all curre t and
anticipated quarrying activities, including roads and the "d ep 100 yr
old pit to be used for water storage", within the boundary. Please
address.
2. If any new mining areas outside of the existing quarries are
anticipated, then these areas should be clearly delineated f om
existing quarry areas. Please address.
3. Adjacent property owners should be identified on the map
a23 Centennial Buildu~g. tat 3 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel. 303) 866-3567
