8.) Concurrent Reclamation
As stated in Exhibit E of the Application, it is planned to affect a maximum of 36 acres at any
time: 12 acres being pre-stripped, 12 acres being mined and leveled, and l2 acres of cropland
reclamation. The goal for reclaiming this site is to improve crop production and reduce erosion
and therefore keeping disturbance to a minimum.
"Historic contours" is an undefined condition. Some contours will change and yet the "historic"
nature and contour of the unnamed intermittent drainage way will be preserved (see Public
Comments Concern #3). The maximum acreage requiring reclamation will be 24 acres as
suggested: 12 acres being pre-stripped and 12 acres being mined and leveled. The remaining 12
acres has been leveled and reclaimed and is producing a crop.
Topsoil storage has been addressed above in response to DMG Concern #l.
9.) Reclamation
The Reclamation Plan Map has been changed to more clearly depict "maximum slopes" and
"final grades". Final grades are shown at 2 foot contour intervals and the infamous "lollipop"
has been eliminated.
This should complete the Technical Adequacy Review as part of the Public Participation and
MLRB Public hearing process as set forth in the Tnfomial Conference held oir October 13, 2000.
If you have any further questions or requirements, please call Joe V. Gagliano at (719) 543-1324.
The Applicant appreciates your attention in this matter.
Sincerely,
~- ~'
Joe V. Gagliano and J.R.
