All drill sites will be located next to existing roads and
trails, where possible. If necessary, a bulldozer will be used to
construct a level bench for the drill. In those cases where level bench
construction is necessary, for reclamation purposes, topsoil will be
removed from the drill site leveling locations, stored, and replaced during
road reclamation. Until redistribution, the topsoil will be separated,
stock-piled, and protected from wind and water erosion and from
contaminants which lessen its capability to support vegetation.
Existing roads and trails will be utilized wherever possible, and
movement by equipment across undisturbed terrain will be kept to a minimum.
If existing roads or trails are disturbed by the proposed exploration
activities, they wi]1 be bladed and returned to a condition equal to or
better than their condition prior to commencement of the proposed
exploration activities. New or additional roads will be constructed only
when necessary and only immediately prior to the drilling operations. At
the conclusion of the proposed exploration activities, all new roads
constructed by Getty will be reclaimed. All roads in the proposed
exploration area will have water bars and/or culverts installed, if
necessary, to prevent excessive erosion.
Fire protection will be maintained by keeping all trash and
debris from accumulating. Adequate fire extinguishers will be maintained
and available at each drilling site.
The possibility of contamination of surface waters by drilling
materials is extremely low, adequate precautionary measures to prevent the
escape of drilling materials into stream drainages can be incorporated into
individual site designs. The potential for contamination of surface waters
can be minimized by constructing waste pits of sufficient size to contain
all effluent drilling materials. Waste pits wil] be lined if percolation
of fluids through the walls into stream drainages appears probable.
-11-
