Facilities Area comprise eleven acres of disturbed ground. The
Haulage Road accesses the Eastside Mine from County Road 237. The
Surface Facilities Area contains the coal processing equipment,
generator, compressor, diesel and oil storage areas, portals,
office, bathhouse, and shop buildings, supply storage, and coal
stockpile and storage areas, An additional two acres will be
disturbed when the waste coal storage area is constructed.
All drainage from above the Surface Facilities Area is diverted
around the Surface Facilities Area by the Diversion Ditch 1 (see
Drawing: SWMP,DWG). The Diversion Ditch 1 (DD-1} empties into a
stabilized channel that flows into the Harvey Gap Drainage. Runoff
from the outslope of the Diversion Ditch flows down until it
reaches either Sediment Pond 1 (SP-1) or the Collection Ditch 1
(CD-1) which connects with SP-1. The only potential pollutant from
runoff of outslopes within the Surface Facilities Area is
sedimentation. The top of the outslope of the DD-1 has been seeded
with the approved seed mix, and natural revegetation has occurred
on the outslope of the ditch.
Stormwater from the Surface Facilities flows into the CD-1 at the
downslope edge of the Surface Facilities Area or drains directly
into SP-1. CD-1 flows into SP-1. This system allows for all
-• drainage from the Surface Facilities Area to be collected and taken
to SP-1. An emergency spillway for SP-1 drains into the Harvey Gap
Drainage. No discharge from SP-1 has occurred.
The Disposal Area and Sediment Pond 2 (SP-2) have not been
constructed. The area to be disturbed by the Disposal Area and SP-
2 is about two acres.
,•
3
