The phase sequence for the reclamation plan is shown
in the attached reclamation phase sequence outline.
The reclamation plan for the four problem sites, as mentioned, is tl:e establish-
went of a steady state vegetative cover. Revegetation of these affected areas, for
the most part, involves a three phase operation.
The three phases employed are:
1. Stabilization of disturbed lands.
2. Establishment of pioneer communities.
• 3. Establishment of secondary communities.
Stabilization of disturbed areas is required to provide greater seeclbed suit-
ability. The results of this are:
1. Insurance of appropriate seeding rates (i.e., pounds sued
per acre) on the desired plot.
2. High germination rates.
3. High seedling survival rates.
The stabilization of the designated affected lands requires two major steps:
r
_ 1. Erection of four foot snow fences, perpendicular to prevailing
l ~
_\, ~''a,~ winds.
~~ '~,b.`6~ 2. Application of a noa-to:dc cementing agent to bind loose tailings
~ ~
(^ material.
-16-
